Statement of Purpose

qCAT's purpose is to strategically coordinate effective overdose responses, awareness and prevention initiatives for the City of Powell River and communities throughout the qathet Regional District.

The team includes key Nations and municipalities, front-line workers and agencies, community organizations and people with lived experiences relating to the overdose crisis, its harms and/or its solutions.

qCAT's essential work and programs would not be possible without generous funding from British Columbia's Community Action Initiative (CAI), and ongoing organizational and production support from Lift Community Services. We acknowledge and are grateful for these supports in equal measure.

We acknowledge with gratitude our place on the ancestral and traditional territories of the Tla’amin and shíshálh Nations.  We stand in solidarity with the Tla’amin and shíshálh Peoples, and our shared commitment to effective overdose responses, awareness and prevention throughout all communities within the qathet Regional District.
